Michelle Chenault has always been a natural problem solver. She likes to look at things from every different angle—understanding both sides of a situation in order to find the right resolution. As a proud Clearwater resident since 1986, Michelle has developed a strong bond with this community. So as she watched the local political battles wage on while the downtown area continued to struggle economically, she decided enough was enough. Michelle would have to take action herself.
A Clear Impact
Michelle’s pride and joy are her two sons, Michael and Chase. They are her inspiration to be her best every day.
Already highly active in the community, Michelle decided to start the Clearwater Renaissance Foundation to raise money and help build a better quality of life in the city. From helping City Council and other powerful political leaders determine what to do with the prime waterfront land under Clearwater Bridge to raising money to help restore local landmarks and businesses, her persistence paid off quickly. “I’m very passionate about this lifestyle. This community means so much to me and I wanted to make sure my children had a great place to grow up,” Michelle says. “It’s very rewarding to know that we’ve been able to make such a difference through the Foundation.”
Passion, pride and persistence are three characteristics that definitely describe Michelle, who was an overachiever even as a child in school. She attributes her driven approach to her family upbringing in the Nashville area. One of her biggest influences was her grandmother, who owned and operated a 200-acre farm outside the city. Michelle worked alongside her for many years—her “right-hand woman” if you will—and learned a great deal from the experience. Her grandmother was very involved in the community. She knew everyone, was well-respected and ran a highly successful business. It’s clear when you get to know Michelle today that she taken these values to heart.
